Case Study

Ask any manufacturer and they’ll tell you – plant relocations often feel intimidating and stressful. It’s a complex undertaking that requires a top team.

Combi Packaging Systems needed to move their entire manufacturing plant quickly with minimal production downtime. Due to this immense challenge, Combi knew that they needed a specialized, experienced team to handle the move and provide seamless project coordination.

CEI was prepared for the unique challenge. They had to move equipment between the old location off Martindale Road in Canton, Ohio, and the new location off Dressler Road in North Canton, Ohio, with minimal downtime, so Combi could continue to serve its customers.

The facility relocation would open new windows of opportunities for the company’s manufacturing capabilities, said Mike Stinchcomb, a machine shop supervisor for Combi.

“We wanted to move for more space and a better location,” he said. “The new plant gives us roughly 60,000 additional square feet.”

CEI Crane & Rigging was tasked with moving 3,000-pound weld tables and mills that weighed two tons. In addition to the weight of the equipment, the narrow space required agility to get the machines out of the old building.

The CEI Crane & Rigging team rose to the occasion and completed the job in only three days by working multiple shifts. When asked if he would recommend CEI Crane & Rigging to one of his peers in the industry Stinchcomb said, “Absolutely, they did a great job.”
